Fan footage of the incident shows Numan, 64, lunge at Gardiner with his microphone as the band performed their signature song, "Are 'Friends' Electric?" at London's Eventim Apollo.
Numan Strikes Gardiner With Microphone
The footage shows Numan striking Gardiner in the head and chest with the microphone, causing the guitarist to fall to the ground.
Security personnel quickly intervened and separated the two musicians, while Gardiner was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Show Cut Short After Incident
The show was cut short following the incident, and Numan was escorted offstage by security.
