Four World Cup Players Included

Alvarez and Otamendi Make the Cut

Argentina has named its 18-player football squad for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which includes four players who were part of the team that won the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022. The squad was named by Argentina U23 head coach Javier Mascherano, and includes four players who were part of the World Cup-winning team: Julian Alvarez, Nicolas Otamendi, Enzo Fernandez, and Alexis Mac Allister.

Alvarez and Otamendi were both starters for Argentina in Qatar, while Fernandez and Mac Allister played key roles off the bench. The four players are all expected to be key members of the Argentina team in Paris.

The rest of the squad is made up of young players who have impressed for their clubs in recent months. This includes Boca Juniors midfielder Alan Varela, River Plate defender Franco Carboni, and Racing Club forward Carlos Alcaraz.

Argentina will be hoping to improve on its performance at the Tokyo Olympics, where it finished in ninth place. The team will be placed in Group A for the Paris Olympics, along with France, Australia, and an African nation yet to be determined.
