BALTIMORE, May 16, 2024 - The 149th Preakness Stakes (G1) is set to take place on Saturday, May 18th at Pimlico Race Course. The Preakness Stakes is the second leg of horse racing's Triple Crown, following the Kentucky Derby and preceding the Belmont Stakes.
Two weeks after Mystik Dan's thrilling photo finish victory in the Kentucky Derby, the finest contenders will compete in the Preakness Stakes. The field is expected to include Epicenter, the runner-up in the Kentucky Derby, and Zandon, the winner of the Blue Grass Stakes.
The Preakness Stakes is one of the most prestigious races in horse racing. It was first run in 1873 and is named after the farm where it was originally held.
